Demolition Prep
Who knew that so much work was required to demolish a house? It has taken months to secure all the necessary permits and plans to demolish the Yellow House and Garage. This week, Village utilities to the house were disconnected, which required a temporary closure of Ardmore Avenue. That was one of the final steps toward demolition, which will occur on Thursday, June 3. If you'd like to watch the action, please maintain a safe distance and stand across the street on Ardmore Ave. Our front parking lot and partial back parking lot have also been dug up to accommodate the heavy machinery required for demolition. Fencing now encloses this area, and signs are posted everywhere inside and out to make it clear that we are now an active construction zone!
Inside, work continues as well! The demolition of interior walls and ceiling on the lower level is nearly complete, and rough carpentry and HVAC work has begun. Electrical work is busy happening in the attic space above the office area. The boiler has been removed and excavation of the elevator pit is underway.
